Dear Association Members,

I hope this letter finds everyone healthy and ready for a wonderful 2010. We have been telling you about the upcoming convention in Sacramento, California for many months now through the Ice World Journal and our web site. Now is the time to get ready for the convention so mark your calendars, register and plan to attend what should be one of the best conventions ever for the Western Ice Association. This year we are very excited to be going to the beautiful Hyatt Regency Hotel in the Capital of California, Sacramento. This very diverse location is enough reason to attend, but add to that all the wonderful speakers, vendor time and events in the area and it just can’t be missed.

In addition to the traditional draw of a capital city known for the Gold Rush, great food and scenic beauty, we will be offering some great opportunities to network and learn more about the association. Highlights include round table discussions on issues our members face in today’s business environment, hearing outstanding keynote speakers along with the chance to participate in our annual golf tournament and optional tours. The WIA included Elk Grove Plant Tour is also an event you will not want to miss. The WIA included Monday night dinner this year will be a special one. This year that outing will be a great opportunity to visit the Heidrick AG Center and enjoy a wine and olive oil tasting, along with a dinner prepared by one of the top venues in the city.

This years’ convention will offer many great opportunities for WIA Members. As usual, the convention will offer a very special location, the capital of California, with all the great sights one would expect from this type of city, plus outstanding industry related speakers, exciting optional tours and wonderful dinner venues. Following are a few highlights of the area and the upcoming convention.

Sacramento:
Sacramento, with a metro-area population of nearly 1.8 million, is one of the state's fastest-growing areas. Visitors and locals alike enjoy a day spent walking through Old Sacramento, floating down the American River, or biking the shady paths along the Sacramento and American rivers. In addition to being the state capital, it's a thriving shipping and processing center for the fruit, vegetables, rice, wheat, and dairy goods produced in the Central Valley. The quantity and quality of downtown restaurants -- such as the Esquire Grill and The Waterboy – are excellent.
Visitors are often surprised at how pretty the River City's downtown area is, with its tree-shaded streets lined with some impressive Victorians and well-crafted bungalows. And at its heart sits the majestic capitol building -- Sacramento's most visible attraction -- situated within a large park replete with flower gardens, memorial statuary, and curious squirrels. Inside the capitol, visitors strain to get a glimpse of California's movie star governor, Arnold “The Governator” Schwarzenegger. Our Hotel: The Hyatt Regency Sacramento
The Hyatt Regency, Sacramento's top hotel is in the heart of downtown, across from the state capitol. It's the high-status address for visiting politicos, as its facilities and services are unmatched in the city. Offering two great restaurants, a very inviting bar, heated outdoor pool, a health club, Jacuzzi, a full service salon and many other services, this will be an excellent location for our time in Sacramento.
